Description

If you loved the traditional spices of Christmas then you will love this mulled apple juice recipe. You can use red or green apples depending on how sweet you like the taste. πŸ₯‚

Ingredients

  • 10 apples

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1/2 tsp cloves

  • 1 star anise

  • 1 vanilla pod (split)

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 4 strips orange peel

  • 2 strips lemon peel

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional)

Juicing Time: 10 mins

Juice Qty: 600ml

Preparation

Apple (15 sec)

Remove the stems and remove any stickers.
Juice apples whole with skin and seeds.
Cut in half or quarters if too big to fit into the wide chute.


Orange (20 sec)

Remove the orange skin leaving as much white pith as possible
Juice whole or cut in half if too big to fit into the wide chute

Lemon (10 sec)

Remove stickers and cut off any hard end points
Slice lemons into rounds with skin on to give more flavour and get more juice from each lemon.

Vanilla Pod (5 sec)

Split the pod by slicing it lengthwise down the middle

Method

First you need to make the juice. Start with the apples. Add them whole one at a time. If the apple are too large cut in half to fit in the wide chute. Next add the orange. Finish the juice part of the recipe with the lemon. Transfer the juice to a small saucepan. Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, vanilla pod and both the orange and lemon peel. Bring the juice to boil, stir and simmer for 5-6 mins. Turn off the heat then add the maple syrup or honey. Allow the juice to cool slightly before straining and serving warm in a mug.
