Pear & Lemon make for a Delicious Cold Pressed Juice

Description

Some ingredients are meant to be together and Pear and Lemon are two of those. The juicy, sweet and softness of the pear mixed with the sour lemon tang makes this juice a favourite way to start the day.

Look for harder pears as they are better for pressing. Ripe pears can be stored in the fridge to extend use in juicing.

The added coconut water helps thin out the soft, grainy texture of the pear.

Ingredients

  • 4 pears (720g)

  • 1/2 lemon (50g)

  • 1 handful parsley (55g)

  • 500ml coconut water

Preparation

Pears (20 sec)

  • Chop the top stem of the pears

  • Cut each pear in half

Parsley (15 sec)

  • Break a handful of parsley from the bunch

  • Cut whole lemon in half

  • Cut 3 or 4 thin slices

Coconut water (10 sec)

Juicy Benefits

Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the powerful healing ingredients in this juice.

Pears contain fabulous soluble fibre, copper and alkaline phosphatase activity that contributes to the fruit being very beneficial to having a healthy colon. Pears are also often recommended by healthcare practitioners as a hypoallergenic which combines well with Parsley, which is nature’s chemo-protective food for the lungs.

Parsley can help clear urinary tract infections, freshens breath and strengthens bones. Parsley may look pretty on your plate, but if you simply leave it you are missing out on one of the best ways to punch up your vitamin C, vitamin K and iron intake.

Parsley is comprised of a volatile oil that includes myristicin, limonene, eugenol, and alpha thujene. These volatile oils are inhibitors in the formation of tumors. In particular myristicin inhibits tumor formation in the lungs.

Coconut water has antioxidant properties, may have benefits against diabetes, kidney stones, heart health and blood pressure. Not to mention how delicious it is as a source of hydration after exercise.
