Make Green Velvet Juice
SOFT AND SMOOOTH
This juice is called green velvet because it is soft and smooth as velvet, almost like a smoothie. The taste is sweet with a nice herb flavour coming from the parsley. It makes a great breakfast juice in winter.
Ingredients
4 green apples
4 kiwi fruits
3 pears
1 parsley (handful)
Juicing Time: 2 mins
Juice Qty: 1000 ml
Preparation
Pears (20 sec)
Chop the top stem of the pears
Cut each pear in half if too large to fit in the chute
Apples (30 sec)
Remove the stems and remove any stickers
Juice apples whole with skin and seeds.
Cut in half or quarters if too big to fit into the wide chute.
Kiwi (20 sec)
Juice whole leaving the skin on
Parsley (15 sec)
Break a handful of parsley from the bunch
Roughly chop
Method
Start this juice by putting all the parsley into the juicer.
Next juice the kiwi fruits one at a time with the skin on. Kiwi fruit is soft so you need to let the machine press each one fully before adding the next one.
Now juice the pears whole or in half if they are too big for the chute.
Finish with the apples.
Tip: Harder pears are easier to juice and you get much more juice. Soft pears will need more time to push through the press.
Healthy Benefits
Kiwi fruit is a delicious, blood-thinning alternative to aspirin for protecting cardiovascular health.
Kiwi fruit will also help with blood flow to the eyes and visual cortex, it is perfect on the high blood pressure front, too, because it’s rich in potassium even more than bananas.
Not to Mention Folate, magnesium and vitamin E are all well represented in kiwifruit, which offers health benefits that range from bone formation to reduced risks of heart disease.
Pears contain fabulous soluble fibre (which is in the juice) that contributes to the fruit being very beneficial to having a healthy colon.
One handful (or 1/2 cup) of parsley in this recipe has 10% of your iron daily requirements plus parsley has the vitamin C your body also needs to absorb that iron.
Happy Juicing!!!
