Description

Orange Mandarin Ginger, OMG what a fantastic tasting juice. I really love it but then I have always loved eating mandarins since growing up with a mandarin tree at my grandparents place.

The flavour is sweet and tangy with a hint a spice from the ginger. You get plenty of juice out of this recipe as all these fruits are currently in season.

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges

  • 3 mandarin

  • 1 ginger piece (2cm)

  • 3 apples (red)

Juicing Time: 3 mins
Juice Qty: 1000ml

Preparation

Mandarin

  • Peel the outer skin (you can juice the skin if you like the flavour)

  • Juice whole when peeled

  • If leaving the skin on then thinly slice like a lemon

Apples

  • Remove the stems and remove any stickers

  • Juice apples whole with skin and seeds

  • Cut in half or quarters if too big to fit into the wide chute

Oranges

  • Remove the orange skin leaving as much white pith as possible

  • Juice whole or cut in half if too big to fit into the wide chute

Ginger

  • Cut off a 2cm thick piece

  • Cut into thin slices leaving the skin on

Juicing Method

Start making this juice with the apples. Add them whole one at a time letting the machine fully press each apple before adding the next one.

I like to add the ginger slices next to get the apple and ginger flavours mixed together.

Next add the whole mandarin one at a time to the juicer.

Finish with the oranges. Add them whole or cut into halves if they are too large.

Tip: keep the mandarin peels as they can be added to water and/or tea to provide additional anti-bacterial and medicinal benefits. The whole fruit is best stored in the fridge.

Healthy Benefits

Mandarins are an excellent food to help boost the immune system and keep it functioning at optimum levels. They may be smaller than oranges, but they are several times higher in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants such as vitamins C & A, calcium, magnesium & selenium, and beta-carotene & luteins.

The Mandarin wholefood signature, like all citrus fruits, targets the breast cells from healing and repair.

Oranges have many benefits. Here are a few:

  • combats cancer

  • protects your heart

  • strengthens respiratory system

  • supports immune system

Apples starve out bacteria, yeast, mold, other funguses, and viruses from the intestinal tract and liver. They also provide living water to support the liver’s hydration capabilities.

Ginger will support your overall immune system, so is great to use during the winter months, to help fight off colds and flu.
