Make a Pomegranate Sangria

Pomegranate Seeds

Description

With the festive season upon us, I thought it would be nice to make a juice recipe that feels festive, is enjoyable to drink and of course, taste amazing.

The sweetness of this juice recipe is really well balanced. It has a thick, creamy and smooth texture and can be enjoyed cold poured over ice.

Various Fruit ingredients for Pomegranate Sangria

Ingredients

  • 1 pomegranate

  • 1 orange

  • 1 kiwifruit

  • 1/2 strawberry punnet (125g)

  • 1/2 papaya

    Time: 8 mins
    Juice Qty: 500ml

Preparation

Oranges

  • Remove the orange skin leaving as much white pith as possible

  • Juice whole or cut in half if too big to fit into the wide chute

Kiwi

  • Juice kiwi fruits whole with skin on

Strawberry

  • Pull off the small green leaves for best flavour, you can juice them if you want

  • Juice whole

Papaya

  • Scoop out the seeds if you don’t like their strong peppery flavour
    (yes you can juice them)

  • Cut in several chunks to fit down the chute

  • Thinly slice off the skin (you can juice it if you like)

Pomegranate

  • Cut into two halves

  • Squeeze out the seeds over a bowl

  • Tap the back of the shell with spoon to get all seeds out

  • Juice seeds one spoonful at a time

Juicing Method

I started making this recipe with strawberries. You can add them all in at once.

Next, add the pomegranate seeds. Again, you can add them all at the same time as they juice easily.

Add the papaya pieces one at a time followed by the whole kiwi fruit.

Now let the juicer run for 30 seconds to push all the soft flesh through the juicer.

Once the pulp stops coming out of the pulp shoot you can add the whole orange to finish making the juice.

Healthy Benefits

When you juice pomegranates in a Kuvings cold press juicer the entire seed gets crushed which extracts even more nutrition. Store-bought pomegranate juice is made from the red flesh only without the seed.

Pomegranates act like natural aspirin in the body and help to prevent blood clots. They are a great blood builder, as they strengthen both red and white cell counts.

Pomegranates are amazing for regulating hormones because they flush out the toxic ones such as unproductive estrogens that contribute to cancers. This fruit also helps detoxify DDT and other pesticides and eliminates unproductive lactic acid buildup in the muscles.

Oranges destroy free radicals that cause signs of skin aging, scouring the intestine and flushing toxins from the body. Freshly squeezed orange juice is a predigested food. This allows for immediate absorption of all its abundant healing properties.

Kiwifruits are one of the leading whole food sources of vitamin C and with the other ingredients in this juice recipe, you get nearly 300mg of this vital nutrient.

Enjoying just a couple of kiwi fruit each day can significantly lower your risk for blood clots and reduce the number of fats (triglycerides) in your blood. These benefits make kiwi a delicious, blood-thinning alternative to aspirin for protecting cardiovascular health.

Papaya is another fruit, like kiwi, that contains more vitamin C than oranges. ½ papaya contains 158% of the amount of vitamin C that a person is generally advised to consume each day.

Papaya has a soothing, cleansing effect on the digestive tract and gently removes toxic debris while decreasing swelling and inflammation.

Strawberries are also well known for being beneficial for age-related macular degeneration and vision-related issues.

Happy Juicing!
