Make a Brain Booster Juice

Coriander in a bowl

Description

Who doesn’t need a little extra brain-boosting nutrition? Especially after last year and everything going on… right? Maybe you are feeling foggy and your thinking is not up to scratch. If so then the nutrition in this juice recipe might be just the thing you need.

There is a distinctive freshness with this juice recipe. It smells very aromatic and the coriander gives it a peppery, citrus note.

The flavour is sweet and tart. The texture is juicy, and easy to drink.

An enjoyable juice to make and drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 coriander bunch, leaves & roots

  • 2 green apples

  • 2 celery stalks

  • 300g grapes, white (2 cups)

    Juicing Time: 3 min
    Juice Qty:  750ml
    Serves: 3

Tip: Select coriander bunches that are brightly coloured with fresh, fragrant leaves. Avoid bunches with yellowed or blackened leaves. Juice the same day as purchased for maximum juice and nutrition.

Preparation

Coriander

  • Roughly chop leaves, stems and roots

  • Juice handfuls at a time

Apples

  • Remove the stems and remove any stickers

  • Juice apples whole with skin and seeds.

  • Cut in half or quarters if too big to fit into the wide chute.

Celery

  • Chop into small thumb size pieces across the stalks (this shortens the long stringy cellulose fibre and stops it from wrapping around the press)

  • You can juice celery leaves, however, it will add bitterness, so discard if you don’t like this

Grapes

  • Remove the woody stems

  • Juice whole grapes with skin on

METHOD

I started with the coriander. Add the whole lot to the shoot.

Next start adding the grapes in handfuls at a time. Grapes juice easy and will help push the coriander down onto the press.

Next, add the celery pieces again in handfuls at a time.

Finish with the apples. Drop the whole apple in the chute if it fits and let the juicer press each one before adding the next.

Health Benefits

Coriander (or cilantro) is the go-to herb for heavy metal detoxification in the brain. Precious mineral salt compounds from coriander remove toxic heavy metals from the brain, freeing up neurons from toxic heavy metal oxidised residue, so that they can function at their best.

Coriander is also able to mobilise mercury rapidly from the brain and central nervous system by separating it from the fat tissue and moving into the blood & lymph.

Apples are truly healing food. Yes, an apple a day is good for you and two is even better.

Apples are high in malic acid. The word ‘malic’ comes from the Latin word ‘malum’, meaning ‘apple’ which is why I recommend to anyone with brain or neurological symptoms to consume more apples. Even if you don’t have any symptoms yet everyone can gain benefits from eating, drinking, consuming more malic-rich apples.

Grapes contain high amounts of powerful antioxidants known as bioflavonoids, resveratrol, and anthocyanins. These compounds may improve memory, attention and mood and may protect against Alzheimer’s disease.

Grapes also help with alcohol addiction since this fruit contains the purest form of alcohol.

Celery contains luteolin, a flavonoid antioxidant that protects the brain from inflammation, cognitive aging and neurodegenerative diseases, and it can greatly enhance memory, learning, and spatial awareness.
