Make Fruit Roll Ups / Leather
Description
What a perfect snack! Home-made healthy treats that everyone in the family will love. What’s more, they are simple to make and only contain 3 ingredients (fruit, lemon juice and maple syrup) – that’s it!
So, ditch the store-bought version (that can be filled with all sorts of unhealthy ingredients) and make your own.
No, you don’t need a dehydrator!
I made these in an Air Fryer (85 degrees celsius), but you can just as easily make them in the oven – you just need to turn your oven to its lowest setting (75 degrees celsius) or if it doesn’t go that low, you can always put it on its lowest setting and if it’s safe, leave the oven door slightly ajar and that should do the trick!
Ingredients
Makes roughly 10 strips (5 cm wide)
3 cups berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries)
1 cup mango
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon organic maple syrup
Yes, you can use frozen fruit, just thaw it out first. And, you can use any 4 cups of fruit, I mixed berries with mango, but equally you could use just one fruit.
Method
Step 1: Gather your ingredients and place them into the blender.
Step 2: Select vacuum and auto blend option and let the blender do its thing.
Step 3: While its blending, line 2 medium baking trays with baking paper
Step 4: Pour the mixture onto your 2 trays and spread evenly
Step 5: Gently tap the tray on the bench a few times to remove any air pockets/bubbles and to smooth the mix out evenly
Air Fryer Method
Step 1: Set your Air Fryer to 85 degrees (or lower if you can) and bake in the air fryer for 3-4 hours
Note: Timing varies based on your appliance and the moisture in the fruit.
Look out that they don’t become too dry/cracked and you will know they are ready when the mix is no longer too sticky/tacky.
Oven Method
Step 1: Set your oven to 75 degrees (or its lowest setting) and bake in the oven for 4-5 hours.
Note: Timing varies based on your appliance and the moisture in the fruit.
Look out that they don’t become too dry/cracked and you will know they are ready when the mix is no too longer sticky/tacky.
Dehydrator Method
Step 1: Set your dehydrator to 32 degrees and bake for about 8 hours.
Note: Timing varies based on your appliance and the moisture in the fruit.
Look out that they don’t become too dry/cracked and you will know they are ready when the mix is no longer too sticky/tacky.
How to prepare
If your mixture is on baking paper, you can leave it on this if you want. If you used a silicon baking mat, peel your fruit off and place onto a piece of baking paper.
Cut into 1 inch strips using kitchen scissors or a pizza cutter.
If you have left them on the baking paper, roll them up and seal them with a bit of tape or a fun sticker. If not, just roll them up and put them into a sealed container.
Storage
It will store in a sealed container (at room temperature) for up to 1 month. For longer storage, place into a sealed container and freeze for up to 1 year.
