How to make Oat Milk in a Kuvings COLD PRESS Juicer
Description
This homemade oat milk recipe is a delicious, creamy, plant-based, dairy-free milk alternative you can make at home in your Kuvings Cold Press Juicer, all you need is rolled oats, and water.
The number one complaint about making homemade oat milk (especially in a blender) is that it is too slimy.
Using a Kuvings cold press juicer with the Kuvings Pulp Strainer (select your juicer model to find applicable strainer), you can make creamy oat milk, that is not slimy, in less than 2 minutes.
Just like making other homemade plant-based milks, all you need to do is soak them for at least 8 hours and you are ready to go.
Taste
A creamy texture with the right amount of sweetness and perfect for those with nut sensitivities.
Ingredients
1 cup soaked oats
2 cups filtered water
1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
Juicing Time: 2 mins + 8hrs soaking
Juice Qty: 700 ml
Serves: 3
Preparation
Oats
Place oats in a small bowl and cover with water (at least double volume oats to water)
Allow to soak for at least 8 hrs or overnight
The oats will plump as they absorb water
Strain oats and discard the water
Buying Tip
When it comes to choosing oats, organic rolled oats are the best option. Quick oats are too processed to use in your juicer and steel-cut oats are not processed enough to use in the juicer.
Non-organic oats have been tested to have unsafe levels of glyphosate, an herbicide you definitely want to avoid.
Method
To make the oat milk you will need a strainer. Use Kuvings Pulp Strainer, it has a super fine mesh to remove all the slimy starch you get from the soaked oats.
Begin making the oat milk with the cap on your Kuvings cold press juicer closed.
Add half the soaked oats to the wide chute using a big spoon or ladle.
Next add half the filtered water.
If using maple syrup you can add a tbsp to the juicer next and allow the ingredients to mix together inside the juicer before opening the cap to release the milk into the strainer which sits on top of the juice jug.
Close the cap again and add the remaining oats followed by the remaining water. Let the juicer run for 30sec to mix together then open the cap again to release the milk into the strainer.
Tip #1: Pour the homemade oat milk into an airtight bottle and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
Tip #2: Add the leftover oat pulp into cookies or into a smoothie.
Tip #3: Without any stabilisers or emulsifiers, like store-bought oat milk, the milk will separate in the fridge. This is normal. Just give it a good shake before drinking.
